game drives

Namiri Plains offers two game drives per day: One first thing in the morning and the other one is late in the afternoon. This give’s guests a better chance to discover the wildlife.

The expert guides know where to go to spot the big cats, lions or cheetahs and sometimes the elusive leopard.

Between May and October, the big wildebeest herds also pass through for migration.

Our robust, custom-modified 4×4s and highly trained driver-guides take guests over rough terrain to discover incredible new slices of nature, crossing low rivers and overcoming steep gullies to cruising over vast, open plains.

The open sides and high seats of our custom vehicles mean you will never miss a thing as you scan the horizon for the beautiful animals that live here.

For those traveling longer distances, then closed vehicles with pop-up roofs will be used to take you on game drives that will transfer you to your next safari camp. These offer protection from gusts of wind, while still allowing you to enjoy incredible sightings of birds of prey circling overhead and other wildlife.

Both styles of vehicle are equipped with a fridge and picnic bag to ensure you have all you need on your game drive.

Guests choose when to stop on their game drive for a delicious homemade breakfast sandwich and a thermos of hot coffee in the morning.

If you choose a late-afternoon drive, we’ll park the vehicle and sip on a well-deserved gin and tonic to watch the sunset.

walking safaris

Explore Serengeti by foot, one of the most exciting ways to start your adventure.

When you step down from the vehicle, appreciate all the small things that you miss on a game drive. Identify butterflies, ants, termites and dung beetles or get closer to birds.

A secret language of signals will be shared between you and your guide, as he gestures the way across the openings and navigates through thickets and woodlands and teaches you the wonders of communication in the wild.

drink & dine

All food is made in the camp, including fresh bread, biscuits and muffins.

Breakfast is a continental buffet or full English, and lunch is a light buffet with salad or fresh vegetables.

If you opt to extend your game drive in to the day, we can pack your lunch for a bush picnic.

Later, a three-course dinner is served in the dining tent or under the stars.

We are able to cater to most diets, we just need to be advised in advance of your stay.

All drinks included apart from cellar wines, premium spirits and champagne

  • Identifying animal tracks
  • Learning about local cultures
  • Guided nature walks
  • Learning bush skills

Families with children over 5 years old are welcome to this camp and our guides are great with children. Many of them are parents themselves and love taking children onto the safaris. They can teach them bush skills such as how to track animals, while telling Maasai folktales and stories about life in the Mara. Games are created, local visits to schools where they can meet their future pen pal and they can learn more about the Maasai culture. Private vehicles may be available for families.
